About Me
Professionally

Beginning in 2006, I attended Grand Valley State University where I participated in their College of Education. With this program, I was able to student teach in a variety of classrooms during my time there, as we experience all of our certification areas. I am certified to teach general education K-5, as well as special education K-12, with emphasis in cognitive impairments and emotional impairments. Since graduation, I have been a special education teacher. I am currently in my sixth year teaching and have taught in a variety of classrooms. My first year, I taught in Grand Rapids, Michigan in a self contained 3/4 emotionally impaired classroom. After that, I moved to Indiana and taught in an area with a large Amish population. The first two years I spent working as a resource room teacher and co-teacher for 6th and 7th grade students. I was then able to teach a self-contained 2-5 cognitively impaired classroom for moderate and severe students. In 2015, I was blessed with the opportunity to move back to the area where I grew up and have been teaching special education K-12 for the past two years. The last few years I have been taking courses through Michigan State University for my Masters in Education. I have learned a great deal and enjoy getting to apply it to my own work with students.

Personally
I enjoy spending my free time with family, boyfriend, and friends. These individuals are my greatest motivators in life. In recent years, my extended family and friends are marrying and starting families. I love seeing these new lives grow and spending time with all the little ones to get my "baby fix." I have grown up as an outdoor girl in Michigan, spending time camping, riding 4-wheelers, and one of my greatest passions, riding my horse. I have always had pets growing up. Currently I have a dog, two cats, three birds, a horse, and a few fish. I also enjoy a quiet afternoon curled up reading a good book, or traveling to new places and seeing places around the country and world. In the future I hope to be able to travel and experience many more places.
